About the Sessions
This is vital in building a trusting environment where the child feels comfortable.
Individuals or Groups
Individual sessions last 40 minutes.
Group sessions are 1 hour long.
Sessions occur within the same room.
This is a key factor in the therapeutic process.
Individual sessions are non-directive and child led. They are 40 minutes long and are held at the same time and day every week. This consistency is a key factor in the therapeutic process. Children will have access to a set toolkit which they are able to explore freely.
Everything within the room is confidential. This is vital in building a trusting environment where the child feels comfortable enough to be open within the session. It is important to try your best not to ask your child about their session; this should be a private thing between them and their therapist.
Following an initial meeting there will be a preliminary session where the child will be able to begin building a relationship with the therapist and is able to explore the room for the first time. Review meetings will occur regularly to keep those involved updated on the progress of the sessions.
Group sessions may be more directive. They are 1 hour long and are held at the same time and day every week. Group sessions are for children of the same age and who are experiencing similar problems as this will be the focus of the group.
Confidentiality remains the same for group sessions.
An initial meeting will be held with each child individually before coming together as a group for a preliminary session where the group will be able to begin building a relationship with the therapist as well as each other.
A set amount of sessions will be agreed and there will be an end review meeting upon completion.
