Hello! I’m Catherine
I have always had a strong urge to help others and during my time in sixth form I took on a placement within a special educational needs school which allowed me to gain a lot of knowledge around children with additional needs as well as children who have experienced trauma.
Following university I knew I wanted to work with children, specifically, those children who may have been unintentionally overlooked within a class of 30. I wanted to find a way to help these children and provide them with the extra support they need to flourish. Play therapy gave me the tools I needed for this.
I have trained with Play Therapy UK through APAC and Leeds Beckett University to achieve my Certificate in Therapeutic Play Skills and Diploma in Play Therapy. I work with clients on a regular basis and I have over 250 hours experience working with children of different severities from ages 4-11.
I am a certified play therapist regulated by the Professional Standards Authority and I can be found on the PTUK register.
I work using a non-directive holistic approach where the sessions are child led. My approach provides a safe space for children to explore their inner thoughts and feelings without the added pressure of verbal communication. My role ensures your child has support during their time of deep processing and understanding emotions which may arise.
