About Me

Hello! I’m Catherine

I have always had a strong urge to help others and during my time in sixth form I took on a placement within a special educational needs school which allowed me to gain a lot of knowledge around children with additional needs as well as children who have experienced trauma.

Following university I knew I wanted to work with children, specifically, those children who may have been unintentionally overlooked within a class of 30. I wanted to find a way to help these children and provide them with the extra support they need to flourish. Play therapy gave me the tools I needed for this.

I trained with Play Therapy UK through APAC and Leeds Beckett University to achieve my Diploma in Play Therapy. I now work with clients who have experienced significant trauma and I have over 500 hours experience working with children and adolescents aged 3-18.

I am an accredited play therapist, located in Liverpool, regulated by the Professional Standards Authority and I can be found on the PTUK register.

Additionally I am also a qualified SandStory Therapist and can be found on the SandStory register.

My Approach

I work using a non-directive holistic approach where the sessions are client led. My approach provides a safe space for children to explore their inner, unconscious thoughts and feelings without the requirement of verbal communication. My role ensures the child has support during their time of deep processing and understanding emotions which may arise.
